Storytelling Prompts
Some people work best when given a prompt. Here are a couple to get you started.
A Hand-Washing Adventure
Cleo was annoyed. She was washing her hands for what seemed like the hundredth time today. She was tired of repeating the ABC’s. She was tired of counting to 20. Absentmindedly, she let the bar of soap fall into the sink, which plugged the drain. The water began to fill up.
“Ugh,” she said, then wrapped her hands around the slimy bar of soap. She pulled and pulled, but every time her hand just slipped away.
“Dad!” she yelled, but there was no answer. Finally, Cleo climbed onto the sink, grabbed the bar and yanked with all of her might. It worked! But it worked a little too well. Slowly, the entire sink began to drain down the hole - followed by the counter, the hand towels, and the entire bathroom!
Cleo was about to call for help when a sly smile came across her face. She took a deep breath, held her nose, and dived in…

Beards and Viruses Don’t Mix
My dad has a beard. But the doctor said he had to shave it off because of the Coronavirus. “No worries,” said Dad, “it’s a clip-on.” My dad, such a joker.
But that night, as I was getting ready for bed - there it was. A full beard just hanging on the towel rack in the bathroom. “Gross,” said my sister as she passed by.
Was it really a clip-on? I leaned in for a closer look, when suddenly it leaped up and ran out the window. “Hey! Get back here!” I shouted, but it was already running down the driveway.
Three weeks later I got a letter in the mail. It was from Dad’s beard! It had traveled all over the world, and this is its story:
Where’d that little beard go? You finish the story.
