The town of Ainsley was famous for its storytelling tree. Like magic, its branches could twist and turn into scenes from any story told underneath its canopy. All summer long storytellers gathered to tell tales, and in the fall the leaves filled every story with a mosaic of dazzling images. Come winter, its branches at first seemed bare, but between each branch silhouettes of delicate lace formed scenes of spectacular intricacy. Scenes within scenes within scenes, each sparkling with a layer of frost.

But one little girl, Annabel, is searching for a different kind of story. It’s up to her and her mother to remind the town, and themselves, that there’s more to a story than what you see. It’s also what you feel.
